'Fast and Furious 6' tops Australian box office chart

Fast and Furious 6 has gone straight into the top spot on the Australian box office chart.

The action adventure movie - which features an ensemble cast including Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and Paul Walker - takes over AU$11 million in its first week on general release.

The Great Gatsby, which broke a national record last weekend, drops to second place but still grosses a further AU$4.565 million.

Elsewhere, The Reluctant Fundamentalist re-enters the top ten in its third week of release.

The box office chart for the weekend of June 6 to June 9 (all figures are in Australian dollars):
