Katherine Jackson reveals pain over her granddaughter's suicide bid

Katherine Jackson has broken her silence over her granddaughter's suicide bid for the first time.

In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Katherine confirmed the incident, saying: 'Yes, it is true.'

Getting emotional and shedding tears, Michael Jackson's mother then commented: 'I guess she was suffering and we didn't know it.'

She then revealed that following the death of her son in 2009, Paris visited her father in the mortuary and kissed him, saying: 'I don't want to live without you.'

Katherine spoke about how Paris would cover her bedroom with fond memories of her father, commenting: 'She had to have his pictures everywhere in her room.'

The 83-year-old added that Paris is now doing 'much better' as she continues treatment and strengthens her relationship with her biological mother Debbie Rowe.

Following the death of the Thriller hitmaker, his mother Katherine - who was appointed guardian for Prince Michael, 16, Paris, 15 and 11-year-old Blanket - revealed they all struggled to come to terms with the loss of their father.

She also told the program: 'Michael's kids went back to the morgue where Michael was about 10 times. When I was in the room, I couldn't go there ...'

'[my daughter LaToya] said the children are all kissing and hugging Michael. Even though he is dead they are still doing that.'

Michael's death hit Paris particularly hard, and the teen star tried to commit suicide earlier this year.

Katherine added her granddaughter insisted on having photographs of the singer "all over her room" when he passed away.

She said: 'She was screaming and crying when Michael died saying 'I want to go with you daddy, I don't want to live without you ... I was feeling so bad for her.'

'Paris suffered a lot after his death. She had to have pictures of Michael all over her room. Every picture that was hanging on the wall had to be of Michael.'

Katherine is currently suing concert promoters AEG Live in a wrongful death civil suit in Los Angeles.

The Jackson’s claim the entertainment giant was negligent in hiring Conrad Murray, the private doctor now serving four years behind bars for causing Jackson’s death by giving him an overdose of the anaesthetic drug propofol.

Mrs Jackson said it was ‘the worst day of my life’ when her son died.

‘I’ve never had that feeling before and I never want to feel like that again,’ she said.
