Manchester United Scouts Track £17m Dutch International

Manchester United have dispatched scouts to watch Dutch international midfielder Kevin Strootman, according to reports.

The Daily Express claims new Red Devils boss David Moyes has sent chief scout Jim Lawlor to watch the 23-year-old in action at the European U21 Championships this summer.

Lawlor is sure to have been impressed by the PSV Eindhoven star, who has started both Holland matches thus far – wins against Germany and Russia in a tricky looking Group B.

His Eredivisie side have previously refused to discuss a move to Manchester United, according to the paper, but after his performances the Premier League champions are now considering a move anyway.

And, the report goes on to claim that PSV will demand a fee in the region of £17million for the central midfielder, although Moyes would prefer to pay a figure closer to £10million.

Strootman started his career at Sparta Rotterdam before moving to Utrecht for a brief spell in 2011. A move to the Phillips Stadium followed that same summer, and he’s become a key part of the PSV side over the past 24 months.

However, Manchester United hope to bring the player to England, and have guaranteed Champions League football to offer.
