Suarez's latest comments insisting he is eager to leave Liverpool this summer make it increasingly difficult for the club to hang onto the Uruguayan, yet Rodgers is remaining upbeat after getting his transfer dealing done early this summer.

Jose Mourinho Says Cristiano Ronaldo Thought 'He Knew It All'

Former Real Madrid coach Jose Mouriho says Cristiano Ronaldo thinks that he knows it all and the coach cannot help him to grow more.

Madrid:  Former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has taken a parting shot at his old team's biggest star Cristiano Ronaldo, saying the striker thought he knew it all.

Mourinho, who is returning to Chelsea next season after three divisive years at the Santiago Bernabeu, was asked why relations between the two Portuguese compatriots had deteriorated.

"Cristiano had three fantastic seasons with me, all of them," the 50-year-old Mourinho told Spanish television Intereconomia's sports programme Punto Pelota in a recorded interview released Wednesday.

"I think we found a fantastic tactical situation for him to express his potential in goals," he said of the 28-year-old.

"I had one problem with him, very simple, very basic, and it was as a coach to criticise him from a tactical point of view, trying to improve what I believed could be improved," Mourinho added.

"He did not accept it very well because he thinks probably that he knows it all and the coach cannot help him to grow more."

The Portuguese coach had more barbs for 30-year-old defender Pepe, who apparently irked his boss by coming to the defence of Real Madrid's benched keeper Iker Casillas.

Mourinho claimed he was responsible for keeping Pepe at Madrid and fighting for him to get a good contract.

But he said Pepe had reacted badly to competition from 20-year-old French player Raphael Varane, who snatched his place in the Real starting line-up.

"A kid who was 10, 12, or 13 years younger than him started to play, but a kid who in my opinion deserved to play. And I think he did not assimilate or accept that situation well," Mourinho said.

Suddenly, all the critics of Pepe's aggressive playing style had become his defenders, the coach said. "From one moment to the next, they all went to his side and defended him to the hilt."

Mourinho, who returned Monday to the London club he previously coached from 2004 to 2007, had a positive review of his own role in Madrid.

"If you ask me if I would go to Real again knowing what has happened in the last three years then I say that I would do so. Because if I had not come I would not be able to say that I had won the three most important championships of the world," he said, referring to the titles he picked up with Chelsea, Inter Milan, and then with Real Madrid in the 2011/12 season.

Mourinho Returns to Stamford Bridge for the Second Time

LONDON -- When Jose Mourinho left Chelsea in 2007 after falling out with owner Roman Abramovich, it looked like the divorce would be final.

But less than six years after his departure, the Special One is back at Stamford Bridge to the delight of Blues fans -- and he said it took him only a few minutes to agree to a new union.

"I had to prepare myself not to be too emotional on my arrival at the club, but obviously I am very happy," Mourinho told Chelsea TV. "It was an easy decision.

Mourinho Jeered and Cheered on Real Farewell

Jose Mourinho ended his three-year reign as Real Madrid coach with a 4-2 win over Osasuna in La Liga today in a match where he was cheered and whistled in equal measure by a two-thirds full Bernabeu.

The 50-year-old has agreed by mutual consent to leave the club, despite having three years left on his contract, and is widely expected to return to his former team Chelsea.

Gonzalo Higuain, Michael Essien, Karim Benzema and Jose Callejon scored as an under-strength Real side ended the season in second place behind champions and arch-rivals Barcelona.

The Blue return of the ‘Special One’

Jose Mourinho is leaving Real Madrid after a three-year spell and turns Blue again. Five years since his departure from London, the Portuguese manager also known as the ‘Special One’ returns to Stamford Bridge to take charge of Chelsea Football Club.

The new episode of the love and hate relationship between Mourinho and the owner of the club, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is probably one of the most anticipated events for football fans all around the world.

Reports say that Mourinho’s salary for agreeing to return to London on a four-year deal will be far from humble. For every year of his contract, the ‘Special One’ will receive more or less 14 million euros.

Transfer moves

Mourinho’s annual earnings though is probably just a tiny shred of the amount Abramovich will spend to satisfy the Portuguese manager’s transfer appetite.

Italian media suggest that Chelsea has already targeted Napoli’s Edinson Cavani, offering 30 million euros plus Spanish forward Fernando Torres in exchange for the Uruguayan international striker.

Meanwhile, Spanish media say that Real Madrid’s full-back Fabio Coentrao is ready to follow in Mourinho’s footsteps and travel from the Spanish capital to London. The Blues will have to spend 25 to 30 million euros to lure the 22 year-old Portuguese international.

Chelsea’s moves on the transfer chessboard keep coming. Bayer Leverkusen’s talented winger André Schürrle is set to join the Europa League winners in a reported 23.4 million euro deal that will see the Belgium international Kevin de Bruyne move in the opposite direction on loan.

John Terry is heading towards the sunset of his career and Mourinho knows that he needs to sign a top defender during the summer transfer-window. Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala seems to be quite suitable for the job. According to reports, the cost for his arrival at Stamford Bridge will be 35 million euros.

The divorce

Mourinho took charge of Chelsea in June 2004 and left in September 2007. During this period he won the Premier League title twice (2004-2005 and 2005-2006), one FA Cup (2006-2007), two League Cups (2004-2005 and 2006-2007) as well as one FA Community Shield in 2005.

Although Mourinho turned Chelsea into an undisputed ‘boss’ in England, the Blues’ plan to conquer Europe proved too difficult to complete, even for the ‘Special One’.

Mourinho failed to lead his team to a Champions League final and eventually his relations with Roman Abramovich, the man who fulfilled almost all of the manager’s requests regarding transfers never minding the cost, reached an edge.

The divorce “by mutual consent” was announced on the 20th of September 2007. Ten months later, on 2 June 2008, Mourinho was appointed the successor of Roberto Mancini at Internazionale.

Liverpool: Suarez Won't Leave for Less than £50 Million

Luis Suarez does not have a £40 million buy-out clause in his Liverpool contract, contrary to reports, ESPN understands.

It was suggested on Friday that Real Madrid were preparing to activate a clause in the Uruguayan's contract that would secure his release from Anfield, but club chiefs have told reporters that their star striker cannot be purchased for less than the £50 million they recouped from selling Fernando Torres to Chelsea two years ago.

Terry's future at Chelsea will be First Job for Mourinho to Deal with When he Arrives

Jose Mourinho's first task when he takes over at Chelsea again will be to determine John Terry’s long-term future.

The Blues skipper has 12 months remaining on his £150,000-a-week deal and is anxious to secure an extension but Mourinho will have the final say.

Chelsea are reluctant to give older players new deals, but Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard signed one-year contract extentions earlier this season.

Real Madrid Manager Jose Mourinho could leave Real Madrid this Week

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho could leave the club as early as this week according to reports in the Spanish press on Sunday.

A 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid in Friday night’s Copa del Rey final meant Real will end the season without a major trophy and has accelerated claims that Mourinho could make a return to Chelsea, who he previously managed between 2004 and 2007.
